This work features a staircase with white steps, its ascent marked by black. Its base rests on a carrot, forming its foundation, while its top sinks into the green tops of the vegetable. A horizontal line crosses the canvas, marking a separation between the lower part, anchored in effort and materiality, and the upper part, bathed in cream white, evoking a more abstract or symbolic space.
The sky-blue background reinforces an impression of elevation and aspiration towards somewhere else. The contrast between the white steps and the black ascent suggests a varied path, oscillating between clarity and difficulty, light and shadow.
This composition plays with the notions of progress, ambition, and illusion. The carrot, often perceived as a metaphor for incentive or a goal to be reached, becomes here the very foundation of the ascent, highlighting the ambiguity of our motivations.
The staircase, a symbol of transition from one state to another, invites us to question the purpose of this ascent: do we reach a true summit or an elusive destination?
Through this structure, which is both minimalist and enigmatic, the work offers a reflection on personal quest, inner journey, and the often paradoxical nature of our aspirations.
