An immersion into the world of Axel Traverso

With AFTERMATH, Artalistic Curated – Contemporary Art House, in collaboration with Galerie Art al Set, presents a solo exhibition by Axel Traverso (from 12 to 6 March 2026, An artist with a powerful and immediately recognisable visual language.

Through a selection of recent works, the exhibition offers an immersion into a universe where the female portrait becomes a contemporary icon, at once strong, fragile and deeply inhabited. Inspired by the pictorial aesthetic of the 80s and 90s, pop culture and major art history references, Axel Traverso develops a unique style, on the border between urban imagery and classical painting.

One image, two interpretations

What immediately strikes you in Axel Traverso's works is their Double lecture.
From a distance, the portraits strike with an almost photographic force. The gaze is captured, snatched, held. Then, as one draws closer, the image transforms: the features fragment, the material appears, dense, vibrant, almost chaotic.

This game between mastery and instinct, between construction and letting go, creates a permanent tension. Each work thus becomes an experience, a visual exploration where the image never gives itself up completely.

The female figure as an emotional territory

In AFTERMATH, the female figure is at the heart of the approach.
